For more than 25 years, Horseplay Niagara has been giving visitors a unique way to experience Niagara’s shoreline - on horseback along the beaches of Lake Erie.
The business was started by Tonya Henderson’s parents after years of people stopping by their boarding stable asking about trail rides, and today it has grown into a popular destination for both locals and tourists looking for a relaxing outdoor experience.
Henderson says many riders arrive with little to no experience around horses, with roughly 80% of guests riding for the very first time. She says the rides are designed to be welcoming for beginners, with guides providing instructions and support before and during each outing to help guests feel comfortable and safe.
Horseplay Niagara offers both group and private rides along the beach, as well as sunset rides that have become especially popular during the warmer months. The business also hosts photography sessions at the farm, including engagement shoots and family photos with the horses.
Beyond the scenery, Henderson says many visitors describe the experience as calming and therapeutic, pointing to the connection people often feel with animals and nature.
She says the farm has seen many repeat customers over the years, including couples who return to celebrate anniversaries after getting engaged during one of the rides.
