83 new affordable rental homes being built in Welland

Welland City Council has approved a new affordable and attainable housing project that will add 83 rental homes on City-owned land north of Broadway. 

The development is a partnership between Bethlehem Housing and Support Services and the Community Land Trust of Niagara, combining deeply affordable, affordable, and attainable units with on-site supports.

Bethlehem Housing will lease part of the land to build 40 affordable one and two-bedroom units, as well as a community hub, while the Land Trust will develop another 43 units on land purchased from the city.

Council has committed over $400,000, while funding will be sought from senior governments, with construction expected to begin in about a year.
