58 total charges laid by police, MTO
The Town of Lincoln and its partners are continuing to crack down on unsafe commercial vehicles using local roads to avoid the Vineland inspection station on the QEW.
Working alongside Niagara Region, Niagara Regional Police and the Ministry of Transportation, inspectors examined 30 trucks and trailers during a one-day enforcement blitz.
Sixteen vehicles were taken out of service, one was impounded for serious mechanical issues, and officers laid 58 charges.
The Town says the initiative, along with its truck bypass camera monitoring program, is helping improve road safety, protect local infrastructure and identify commercial vehicles trying to avoid mandatory inspections.
