The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is set to receive a $145,000 investment aimed at upgrading local soccer and community facilities.
The funding comes through Airbnb’s Host City Fund, tied to communities hosting activity around FIFA World Cup in Toronto, with a focus on long-term local benefits.
In Niagara-on-the-Lake, the money will support improvements such as new spectator seating, upgraded soccer nets, training equipment, storage upgrades and the revitalization of a community meeting space.
Town officials say the enhancements, developed in partnership with the local soccer club, will support hundreds of players and more than a thousand community users each year.
