Niagara College has opened its new Horticultural and Environmental Sciences Innovation Centre Greenhouse, a $12-million facility designed to advance applied horticultural research and support the region’s greenhouse sector.
The state-of-the-art space features controlled growing bays, advanced lighting systems, hydroponic setups, and climate-controlled environments that allow researchers and students to test new technologies and production practices.
With expanded capacity, the facility will enable more industry partnerships and hands-on research opportunities for students, strengthening Niagara’s role as a leader in agricultural innovation.
The greenhouse is already hosting its first major project, a large-scale pepper variety trial that will continue into December.
