Goal of funding is to support larger commercial passenger flights
The Ontario government is investing nearly $10 million to help transform the Niagara District Airport into a regional gateway capable of supporting future commercial passenger flights.
The funding will go toward planning and infrastructure upgrades, including improvements to the terminal, runway, taxiways and service buildings.
Provincial officials say the investment is part of the Destination Niagara Strategy to strengthen tourism, create jobs and improve transportation across the region.
The long-term goal is to attract more visitors to Niagara and support future economic growth.
