1.8 is Great for IceDogs

Ryan Roobroeck scored the winner with 1.8 seconds to go in a 2-1 IceDogs home ice win over North Bay Sunday. His team leading 28th of the season moved Niagara ahead of the Battalion into 5th place in the Eastern Conference.

A scoreless first was punctuated by strong goaltending by both teams, with Charlie Robertson standing tall for Krys Barch's side.

Hayden Reid broke through at 7:49 of the second with help from Noah Read. His right wing dash ended in a scramble in the North Bay crease. The goal, initially waved off, was confirmed on video review. The middle frame featured 16 IceDogs shots, compared to 9 from the Battalion.

The one goal lead held firm until 4:04 left, when the visitors evened the score on the power-play. A North Bay icing gave the Dogs an offensive zone draw with 27 seconds left in regulation time. Roobroeck grabbed a loose puck on the right side and with just a handful of seconds left, rifled home a snap shot for the win. Shot 34 was the charm with North Bay registering 30 shots on goal.

The IceDogs are off until Friday, when the first of two with the Western Conference with see Niagara travel to London. The pre-game on New Country 89.1 will kick off the weekend at 6:45.
