Thousands of students will pack the Meridian Centre Friday morning as the Niagara River Lions host their annual School Day Game.

Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. in downtown St. Catharines as the River Lions take on the Saskatoon Mamba.

President Michelle Biskup says it's an atmosphere like no other.

The event blends basketball with learning, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy living.

For the players, it's a different routine than they are used to while preparing for a morning game.

This marks the fourth straight year for the School Day Game, which drew a franchise-record crowd of 4,454 students and staff last season.

Students can also look forward to interactive activities and live performances throughout the day.
