What's Good in Niagara? River Lions complete final 'Mesh Refresh' of the season

The Niagara River Lions made the final stops on their Mesh Refresh Tour this week.

Led by head coach and GM Kimball Mackenzie, each stop is at a local community basketball court, replacing the mesh, and giving kids a chance to shoot hoops with the coach, and even getting a chance to see the team's championship trophy up close.

This week saw the tour go to Winterberry Park in Thorold on Monday, Crystal Ridge Park in Fort Erie on Tuesday, and St. Patrick's Park in St. Catharines on Wednesday.

Tyler Vincent, Business Operations Manager, says it's been a big hit with the community.

That said, if you missed it, don't worry - they'll be back later this year.

Vincent said the success of the program has them working to bring Mesh Refresh to even more locations across the Region.

The River Lions 2026 season kicks off in Ottawa against the Blackjacks on May 18th, with their home opener on May 29 against the Vancouver Bandits.
