Musicians from Welland and around Niagara will be at the Seaway Mall this weekend for the city's Music Search contest.
The competition is new this year, with local musicians and bands looking to win a spot in Welland's annual Concerts on the Canal series.
Supervisor of Festivals and Events Erin Carl explains how the competition will work.
There's three spots on the Concerts on the Canal schedule open, as well as prizes for the three winners:
- First place: A fully tracked and mixed song at ToneHenge Recording Studio, plus a live on-air feature on Country 89’s New Music Fridays
- Second place: $500 gift card to Long & McQuade Music Store
- Third place: A band photoshoot with photographer Paul Schmidt
Carl adds that this is a great chance to discover local talent that just hasn't had a spotlight on them yet.
The contest will be held Saturday and Sunday at Seaway Mall's Centre Court from 10 to 5.
