What's Good in Niagara? Niagara's weird winter weather, explained

There are a lot of things that make the Niagara Region unique, and one of those things is certainly the winter season.

Some years, there's only a handful of snowfalls that could be considered significant, and others - it's snowstorm after snowstorm.

Another unique feature of winter in Niagara is the lake effect snow, which Environment Canada Senior Climatologist David Phillips can result in varying weather across the region.

Phillips adds that in Niagara, the influence of both Lake Ontario and Lake Erie can often make the weather unpredictable.

The area was hit with snow in some areas to start the week, with flurries expected between now and the weekend.
