What's Good in Niagara? Man looks to earn world record for a good cause

Jenga enthusiast Meindert de Boer is preparing to once again make history—by stacking thousands of wooden blocks in a gravity-defying tower. All for a good cause.

De Boer talks about the current record and the challenge involved when stacking the Jenga pieces.

De Boer previously held the Guinness World Record for the most Jenga blocks balanced on a single vertical piece, using more than 3,000 pieces in a stunning build over 100 cm tall.

He broke the record using 58 Jenga game boxes, which totals up to 3,132 blocks.

But his record was recently surpassed by China’s Tian Rui, who stacked 3,149 blocks.

Now, Meindert is back to beat that number. He’ll make his attempt on Thursday, July 24 at noon at Mr. Mikes Steakhouse Casual in St. Catharines.

Co-owner of Mr. Mikes Steakhouse Casual, Paul Gowan, talks about why they chose to support Autism Ontario South Region.

Gowan talks about what on-lookers can expect leading up to the final push to break the world record.

A portion of proceeds—10% of all sales—will benefit Autism Ontario South Region.
