What's Good in Niagara? Jackfish celebrate second championship with Rose City faithful

The Welland Jackfish celebrated their second Dominico Cup with the people of the Rose City, and plan to do the same at the end of next season.

Wednesday evening, the team held a community celebration at Civic Square where fans of the fish could get up close and personal with the trophy.

President and Director of Fun Ryan Harrison says they wanted to give everyone this opportunity because of the support they got all year.

The Jackfish won the championship on Sunday night with a 15-5 win over the rival Barrie Baycats to win the final series four games to one.

Harrison says despite the blowing, nobody moved from their seat.

After two championships in three years, with attendance growing every year - the Jackfish are already looking ahead to the 2026 season and how it can be even better.

Harrison says he's ready for the challenge.

In their six seasons in the Intercounty Baseball League, the Jackfish have won two championships and recorded at least 30 regular season wins on four different occasions.
