The largest used book sale in Canada is back next week - and all supporting survivors of domestic violence in the Niagara Region.
The Birchway Book Riot is being held at the Gale Centre until Sunday, with thousands of booklovers coming through the doors to purchase books for a good cause.
Executive Director of Birchway Niagara Jennifer Gauthier says its a massive undertaking.
In 2025, the Book Riot raised over $193,000, resulting in an additional shelter beds being funded.
Gauthier says that's more women escaping intimate partner violence.
This year's sale includes a number of daily specials, including:
Tuesday - Pre-sale ($10 entry fee)
Wednesday - Regular sale day
Thursday - Entertainment Night (Buy two CDs/DVDs/vinyl, get one free)
Friday - Kid's Day (Buy two children's/youth books, get one free)
Saturday - Buy two hardcovers, get one free (does not include indvidually-priced items)
Sunday - $10 per bag OR three bags for $20
The Book Riot runs from 10:00am to 9:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
