If you saw smoke and heard the sound of sirens and wailing crowds outside Brock University's East Academic Building last week - don't worry, everything's fine.
It was all part of the university's disaster simulation training, where students from their Nursing Program received hands-on experience in emergency preparedness.
Hassan Elmorched, one of the students participating in the exercise, said it felt like a final exam.
Vanessa Silva e Silva, an Associate Professor in the program, says the added chaos of sights and sounds are an important part of the exercise.
Brock has also started using virtual reality devices this year to provide an additional immersive experience for disaster training.
