Drive will help give kids new school supplies before September
With September coming up soon, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Niagara have begun their annual Back-to-School Drive - starting with a new event last week.
The Big Start Community Kickoff was held at the Pen Centre Friday. For either a $5 or new school supplies donation, families could enjoy a hands-on craft workshop and other activities like face painting and balloon twisting.
Director of Services Ashley Sinclair notes, if you missed the kick-off event but still want to donate school supplies, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara will be accepting them this month at several spots around the Region.
All donated school supplies will be going into backpacks and given to kids in their mentoring program. Sinclair says this will give them one less thing to worry about when preparing for the new school year.
In addition, funds raised during The Big Start campaign will be used to send kids back-to-school shopping with their Big Brother, Big Sister mentor.
