Thorold man charged with impaired driving and firearm possession at Sherkston Shores

Niagara Regional Police responded to Sherkston Shores Resort in Port Colborne following reports of a suspected impaired driver.

On Tuesday, July 15, Around 7:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop inside the resort. After speaking with the driver, police determined he was impaired by alcohol and placed him under arrest.

A further search revealed the man was also in possession of a firearm.

As a result, 25-year-old Donovan Smith of Thorold faces several charges. He remains in custody.

Smith’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
