Police are investigating a stabbing in downtown St. Catharines that sent a man to hospital.
Tuesday just before 12:30am, police were called to the area of Church Street and William Street for reports of a stabbing.
A 23-year-old man was found suffering from a stab wound and was transported to an out-of-region hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.
Police set up a perimeter in the downtown area, and with the assistance of a K9 unit, a suspect was located and arrested
57-year-old David Penner of St. Catharines has been charged with aggravated assault and remains in custody, while detectives continue to ask for surveillance video from the area between midnight and 1 a.m.
