St. Catharines City Council has approved the name Old Lock One Commons for the outdoor community and event space at 45 Lakeport Road in Port Dalhousie.
The name was selected following a public engagement campaign that drew more than 200 suggestions, with Old Lock One Commons winning the popular vote.
The site, once Lock One of the second Welland Canal, now serves as a venue for outdoor concerts and community events.
A permanent sign will be installed in early 2026, with a ribbon-cutting planned next spring.
