Niagara Regional Police say a retail theft investigation in Niagara Falls has led to an arrest after a joint initiative with local security partners.
On December 17th, officers worked alongside loss prevention staff from the Niagara Clifton Group Security and Clifton Hill Security Patrol in tourist areas of the city.
Police say the initiative focused on deterring shoplifting and holding offenders accountable, resulting in the recovery of $711 worth of stolen merchandise that was returned to retailers.
A 24-year-old St. Catharines man has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
He was later released with a future court date, while police say similar enforcement efforts will continue.
