The Ontario government is investing nearly 44 million dollars to upgrade water and wastewater systems across the Niagara Region.
The funding will support infrastructure projects in several communities, including St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara Region facilities, and Fort Erie, through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream.
Officials say the work will help ensure safe drinking water, support housing development, create jobs, and improve resilience during extreme weather.
Provincial representatives say the investment is part of broader infrastructure funding aimed at modernizing aging systems and supporting long-term growth across Ontario.
