Niagara Regional Police conducted R.I.D.E. spot checks on New Year's Eve in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.
During a stop in St. Catharines, officers arrested a 36-year-old woman for impaired driving after breath tests showed readings more than three-and-a-half times the legal limit.
Police also stopped about 230 vehicles throughout the evening, with 13 drivers required to provide breath samples, all of which were acceptable.
Officers say R.I.D.E. enforcement remains a key part of efforts to combat impaired driving, which continues to be the leading criminal cause of death in Canada.
