A baby boy named Rory is Niagara Health’s first birth of 2026.
Rachel McColeman and her partner Robert welcomed their son at 3:26 a.m. on New Year’s Day at the Marotta Family Hospital, after he arrived a day later than expected.
Rory weighed just over four kilograms, or eight pounds, 15 ounces, and surprised his parents by claiming the New Year’s baby title.
The first-time parents, who recently moved to Port Colborne, say they’re thrilled to start 2026 with a milestone they didn’t expect.
