James V. Glynn, longtime chairman and chief executive officer of Niagara Falls–based Maid of the Mist Corp., has died at the age of 91.
Glynn joined the iconic boat tour company in 1950 as a ticket seller while attending Niagara University, and went on to purchase the business in 1971, guiding its growth into a world-class attraction that now operates two all-electric, zero-emission vessels.
Widely respected for his generosity and leadership, Glynn also played a prominent role in regional philanthropy and civic life, serving on numerous boards and supporting charities across the Buffalo-Niagara region.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary, their five children, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
