Captain Ethan Czata scored the winner, 53 seconds into overtime, as the IceDogs came back from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4 in Barrie Saturday night.
After taking the lead 3:57 in on a Sean Doherty goal, Niagara saw the home side tie up the match and then notch two on the power-play to lead 3-1 after one period.
A short-handed goal early in period two made it four unanswered for the Colts. The comeback began at 7:19 on a Hayden Reid power-play marker. A second man advantage goal, this time from Riley Patterson, his team leading 22nd of the season at 11:53 made it a one goal affair. After firing a season high 19 shots in the first, Krys Barch's side manager another 22 attempts, a season best in period two.
A tighter third wasn't tied until Ryerson Edgar sniped home his second amazing shot in as many games with 4:17 left. Chase Hull picked up the assist, his first in an IceDogs uniform. A late delay of game penalty to the Colts sent the IceDogs to the power-play once again. Niagara held a 54-37 shots advantage over 60 minutes, another season best.
Ethan Czata took a great cross seam pass from Patterson and fired home the winner. With an assist of his own, Ryan Roobroeck extended his season best point streak to 11 straight games. Niagara recorded all three shots in overtime.
With the win, the IceDogs jumped passed North Bay for fifth place in the Eastern Conference of the OHL. In a grueling 5 game in 7 day stretch, Niagara picked up 9 of a possible 10 points.
