The City of Niagara Falls says a province-wide road salt shortage is impacting winter maintenance operations across Ontario and parts of the United States.
City officials have been advised they will not receive their full annual salt supply due to increased demand, early winter storms, and ongoing supply and transportation issues across North America.
As a precaution, the City has implemented temporary mitigation measures while continuing to work with suppliers to secure additional salt. Residents are thanked for their patience as crews prioritize road safety.
