Niagara Regional Police have laid additional charges in relation to the 24 hour standoff that gripped the City of Welland last month.
In the morning of December 19th, uniformed officers were attending a residence on Second Street in Welland to assist bylaw officers when a male suspect opened fire on them, striking one in the chest, leading to a standoff with police until the man was arrested early the next morning.
59-year-old Daniel Tronko has now been charged with six counts of attempted murder and several other related firearms offenses. He was remanded to custody pending a future court date set for January 27 in St. Catharines.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police.
