City of Welland officials and federal representatives gathered December 17 to recognize more than $1 million in federal funding supporting the construction of two new multi-use trail links.
MP Chris Bittle joined Mayor Frank Campion to highlight the investment, which advances the city’s active transportation network.
Funded through the Government of Canada’s Active Transportation Fund, with an additional $1.3 million contributed by the City, the projects will add approximately 4.5 kilometres of fully accessible trails.
The new links will connect Hilda Street to the Welland Canal Parkway Trail and North Welland to Niagara College, improving connectivity, recreation, and sustainable transportation across the city.
