Nearly $1800 raised by students to purchase nails for Habitat home builds
Grade 1 students at Beacon Christian School are making a difference in their community, one nail at a time.
The school once again raised money this year for Habitat for Humanity, with students raising money to help buy nails for a new home.
Sarah Pritula from Habitat for Humanity Niagara says she's always impressed by the work done by local students.
As part of their “Mapping My Home” unit, the children learn about maps and their place in the community. They also explore what makes a house a home and come to appreciate that everyone
deserves a safe place to live.
She says its inspiring to her to see kids getting involved in work like this at such a young age.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara is raising $2 million to build six townhouses in Welland this year. Once completed, an additional three additional townhouses will be constructed on the same lot.
