As temperatures fluctuate across Southwestern Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Police are issuing a clear warning that no ice should be considered safe.
Sergeant Ed Sanchuk says that even when lakes, ponds, and other bodies of water appear solid - that may not be the case.
That includes ice in the Great Lakes, on the recreational canal, as well as smaller bodies of water like Chippewa Park's pond.
Sanchuk urges anyone venturing onto ice, whether skating, fishing, or walking, to prioritize safety above all else.
Beyond ice safety, Sanchuk reminds residents to stay visible while outdoors in winter to ensure safety on roads and near frozen bodies of water.
Sanchuk encourages everyone to keep an eye on weather conditions and lean on the side of caution whenever ice is involved.
