The Welland Jackfish are champions again.
The Canadian Baseball League reports Welland completed a four-game sweep of the Hamilton Cardinals Wednesday night to capture its second straight Dominico Cup.
The Jackfish entered the championship-clinching game at Welland Stadium already holding a commanding 3-0 series lead.
Welland opened the final with a 6-1 win in Hamilton before taking Game 2 by a 6-2 score. The Jackfish then held off a Hamilton comeback for a 7-5 Game 3 victory.
The sweep capped another championship run for a Welland club that has now won three Dominico Cups in the past four seasons, also taking the title in 2023 and 2025.
The result came after a regular season in which there was little separating the two clubs.
Hamilton and Welland both finished 31-17, with the Cardinals earning the higher seed after winning four of their six head-to-head meetings.
Welland turned the tables when the championship was on the line, winning four straight to retain the Cup.
