Welland approves new ward boundaries ahead of 2026 election

Welland City Council has approved new ward boundaries that will take effect for the 2026 municipal election.

The changes come after an extensive Ward Boundary Review by StrategyCorp, which examined population growth, particularly in north Welland and found the existing wards no longer reflect the city’s demographics.

Consultants presented four possible maps, but Council ultimately chose the option that best balanced population growth, avoided dividing neighbourhoods, and remained effective through 2030.

Another review is planned before the 2034 election to ensure fair representation continues as Welland grows.
