
Niagara Regional Police have arrested two suspects following a reported firearm incident in Welland.
On August 30, officers were called to a residence near Rice Road and Woodlawn Road after two individuals confronted a known person and allegedly made threats while presenting a firearm. Detectives quickly identified the suspects.
On September 4, officers located one of the suspects in St. Catharines, leading them to a residence on Melody Lane in Welland. After containing the home, police engaged in a short foot pursuit and arrested both individuals.
The following day, investigators executed a search warrant at the residence, seizing a loaded GSG 16 MP5-style submachine gun, $24,685 in cash, nearly 777 grams of suspected fentanyl valued at $150,000, brass knuckles, and bear mace.
Charged are 20-year-old Isaac Lucas of St. Catharines and a youth who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both face multiple charges.
