A major drug investigation involving several police agencies has led to the seizure of about $4.5 million worth of cocaine and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash across southern Ontario.
The RCMP and partner agencies, including the CBSA and the Niagara Regional Police Service, launched an investigation dubbed “Golden Horseshoe” and executed a search warrant at a Toronto condo in July. Police say the unit was being used to store and prepare cocaine for distribution.
Officers seized more than 170 kilograms of cocaine and arrested two people at the scene. Additional search warrants in Hamilton led to the seizure of about $165,000 in cash and jewelry under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Three men from Hamilton, Brantford and the Toronto area have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. The allegations have not been tested in court.
