A local volunteer search-and-rescue group is marking five years of service for its rescue boat, GAMRU 240.
Since launching in 2021, the vessel has responded to 190 rescue missions, helping 204 people and saving 22 lives.
Crews have also recovered more than $2.9 million in boats and other property, while completing nearly two-thousand hours of volunteer training.
South Shore Search and Rescue is now looking for more volunteers, both for on-water rescue crews and shoreside support.
