Donation will support greenhouse project
Port Cares’ Reach Out Centre and Food Bank is set to grow a greener future, thanks to a generous $45,500 donation from Jungbunzlauer Canada.
The funding will kickstart a vertical grow greenhouse project designed to supply fresh produce year-round for local residents in need.
Representatives from Jungbunzlauer presented the cheque to Port Cares, enabling the non-profit to move ahead with selecting greenhouse equipment suppliers and finalizing a location—either at the Reach Out Centre or a nearby site, depending on system size.
Food Bank Supervisor Meagan Gallant says the organization is now shortlisting suppliers for a system that will bring nutritious produce to low-income families throughout the year.
