Niagara Regional Police are investigating after human remains were discovered near Read Road along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
On Sunday, August 31, just after 2 p.m., officers responded to a report of a human skull found in the area. The scene was secured, and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch, supported by the Forensic Services Unit, took over the case.
On Wednesday, September 3, police recovered full skeletal remains. Due to the level of decomposition, investigators have not yet been able to confirm the identity of the individual.
The case is being treated as suspicious, and the NRPS Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. The site remains under police guard as detectives continue to search the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
