Niagara Regional Police responded to a family violence call at a residence in West Lincoln.
On Monday, September 8, at approximately 7:45 a.m, officers were advised that an intoxicated male had left the home in a white Ford pickup truck and was believed to be armed.
Police say the man also made statements that raised concern for his safety, the safety of the community, and responding officers.
As a precaution, a nearby school was placed in a “hold and secure.”
Shortly after, the unoccupied vehicle was located, and investigators determined the suspect had entered a wooded area. During the search, officers found firearm magazines and ammunition.
Members of the Emergency Task Unit eventually made contact with the suspect, leading to a safe and peaceful surrender.
Christopher Morley was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
