Ontario, Nova Scotia ink new alcohol deal

Premier Doug Ford and Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston have signed a new agreement allowing direct-to-consumer alcohol sales between the two provinces.

The deal will allow residents to purchase beer, wine, and spirits directly from producers in either province and have products shipped to their homes, removing previous restrictions that required purchases through the LCBO or in person.

Officials say the agreement is part of broader efforts to strengthen interprovincial trade and expand economic opportunities for producers while offering consumers more choice.

Applications for producers to begin selling across provincial lines are expected to open immediately, with Ontario continuing to advocate for a pan-Canadian framework.
