Brandon Fitzgerald has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 37-year-old Matthew McAra in Niagara Falls.
Fitzgerald was arrested Thursday after previously being wanted by Niagara Regional Police. Alexander Piccirillo was arrested Tuesday, and both men are now facing second-degree murder charges.
Police say McAra was assaulted at a business on Lundy’s Lane near Hanan Avenue on September 17th. Officers found him without vital signs, but he was transported to hospital after life-saving efforts by Niagara EMS. He died from his injuries four days later.
Fitzgerald remains in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing Friday at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
Police say the incident is believed to have been targeted and are asking residents and businesses in the Lundy’s Lane and Hanan Avenue area to review surveillance footage and contact investigators if they captured anything related to the incident.
