Town working to address long term and short term solutions
One year after the heavy rainfall and flooding events of June and July 2024, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is updating residents on progress made to improve drainage and stormwater management.
In response to increasing challenges from changing weather patterns and aging infrastructure, the Town has completed several key initiatives and continues to implement long-term plans.
Common contributors to flooding — including blocked waterways, compacted soil, and overwhelmed storm drains — are being addressed.
Town Council and staff say mitigating future flood risks remains a top priority, with both immediate actions and forward-thinking strategies in place.
