A new Niagara community safety survey finds 69 per cent of respondents feel safe in their own neighbourhoods, but that drops to 45 per cent when looking at Niagara as a whole.
The survey by the Niagara Police Service Board and NRPS received more than 2,300 responses.
About 64 per cent believe community safety has worsened over the past year.
Recent interactions with police were generally positive, although fewer respondents were satisfied with response times, follow-up and getting the support they needed.
The results will help guide the Police Service Board’s 2026 to 2029 strategic plan.
Officials stress the voluntary survey was not a random sample and does not represent every Niagara resident.
