Niagara Region’s free compost giveaway is back this fall.
From September 28th to October 3rd, residents can pick up up to three 20-litre bags of compost at select landfill sites, while supplies last.
The compost is free with a cash or non-perishable food donation, with proceeds supporting local organizations including Community Care, the Salvation Army, Goodwill Niagara and the HOPE Centre.
Residents can pick it up at the Bridge Street and Humberstone landfills, or Niagara Road 12 Landfill in West Lincoln, which is limited to residents of Grimsby, Pelham, Lincoln and West Lincoln.
Residents will need to load the compost themselves, and the Region suggests avoiding peak days like Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays.
