The Niagara IceDogs picked up their first win of the season over the weekend, in front of their home crowd.
Niagara defeated the Brampton Steelheads 4-1 Saturday night at the Meridian Centre, thanks to three-point efforts from Reyth Smith (2G, 1A) and Noah Read (3A).
Welland-native Callum Cheynowski opened the scoring for the IceDogs, while Vladislav Yermolenko made 27 saves in the victory for Niagara.
With the win, the IceDogs sit at 1-1 on the young season, as they head to Michigan this weekend for matchups against Saginaw and Flint.
