Families in Niagara will soon have access to pediatric cancer care closer to home.
A new POGO Satellite Clinic is being established at the Marotta Family Hospital, with the first patients expected early next year.
The clinic is a partnership between the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, Niagara Health and McMaster Children’s Hospital.
It will provide services including chemotherapy, helping reduce some trips to Hamilton and making it easier for kids to stay connected to school and family life.
The clinic will have a team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and child life specialists.
Work is already underway to prepare the space, with the Niagara Health Foundation also raising money to help furnish the new clinic.
