The City of Welland is welcoming the Ontario government’s approval of renovations to the Welland Hospital and a planning grant for its future redevelopment.
The investments signal strong provincial support for high-quality healthcare in Welland and Niagara Health’s three-site hospital model.
Renovation work will begin ahead of the South Niagara Hospital opening in 2028, while the planning grant will support early-stage development of a new campus of care.
Mayor Campion and successive Councils have long advocated to protect local hospital services, and this announcement marks a major milestone in securing the future of healthcare in Welland.
