When it comes to growing up on the farm - South Pelham Nurseries may be one of the best examples around.
Second generation owners Richard and Greg Suk took over the business from their parents, John and Linda, who opened up shop in 1989. As kids, Richard and Greg worked alongside their parents, and became involved full time after high school.
Richard says being able to work with his brother is a blessing.
As a family business, Greg's teenage kids are also working with South Pelham Nurseries.
He says it's a great experience.
Since taking over from their parents a few years ago, Greg says he's noticing a lot of other next-generation operators in the Niagara Region as their customers.
South Pelham Nurseries grow specialty trees, then sell to wholesaler companies that then go on to distribute through garden centres and landscapers.
Richard says when it comes to technology, they don't use much social media - but the farm tech has improved a ton.
Both brothers agree that being in Niagara, it's a great opportunity for them to grow specialty crops like trees because of the temperate climate locally.
