Dr. Karen Schiff, Regional Supervising Coroner for the West Region, Hamilton Office, has announced an inquest will be held into the death of 27-year-old Martin Gordyn.
Mr. Gordyn died on January 5, 2021, following an interaction with officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest into his death is mandatory.
The inquest will review the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the jury may issue recommendations intended to help prevent similar deaths in the future.
Details regarding the date and location of the inquest will be released at a later time.
