Niagara Regional Police responded to reports of a serious single-vehicle collision in the area of Queenston Road and Concession 6 in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. this morning, initial investigation determined that a vehicle left the roadway, and struck a tree then caught fire.
Despite efforts of officers and emergency crews, the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames and three people were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives are working to identify the persons inside the vehicle and notify their next of kin.
The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation.
