Report will look at the impacts of privatizing surgeries
A new report on cataract surgeries will be unveiled today in Niagara Falls.
The report will be released by CUPE's Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, which says the wait time for cataract surgeries has worsened in the last five years, since the Ford government began the privatization of the procedures.
The union adds that the government is now looking to move ahead on privatizing hip and knee surgeries as well.
Locally, CUPE says privatization of healthcare would impact about 385,000 people in the Niagara Region.
